It‘s Monday and time for a challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.. This week the challenge is:: “anything with ink or paint”
For this challenge I created a layout of our grandson Jacob reading his favorite book series, Harry Potter.

I created consistency on the layout by distressing and inking each piece of patterned paper before layering them. By inking the edges of the distressed paper I added texture, dimension and a vintage look to this layout. You can use almost any inking stamp pad (dye, pigment inks, chalk based … they all work).  I drew attention to the title by not only inking the edges, but inking the surface as well.

Monday means another challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is: Anything Goes

The first time I saw a memory jar I thought, now there’s an idea I’ll have to try! Well a year later I finally got around to it. I wanted both sides of my jar to look finished so I printed two of my favorite photos from one of our trips to Cherry Grove, South Carolina. I used double sided adhesive and stuck them together back to back. I placed a small metal clip on the bottom of the photos and anchored the metal clip to the bottom of the jar with glue dots. I then added the sand, shells and the little flag. I finished off the project with some twine and a tag. I placed a sand dollar that we found on the beach on top of the jar.

What a wonderful way to keep those vacation memories by using your pictures and souvenirs that you have collected. The possibilities for memory jars are limitless! What about creating a memory jar for the birth of a baby, a wedding, graduation, birthday … the list goes on!

I'm up for the Tuesday TTT at Turtle Soup.
I love trying new techniques and ideas on my paper crafting projects . Every once in a while I go way outside my box and try something “artsy” and messy. Today I’m going to share how to add some texture to your project. I started with altering some tissue paper. I cut 3 strips approximately 3 ½ X 9 ½.
I applied a layer of Heavy Carvable Modeling Paste. Since I did not have a plastic scrapper handy I used one of those fake credit cards you get in the mail.

Now this is the hard part … you have to let it dry completely. I cheated and put the strips in front of a dehumidifier to speed up the drying process. The tissue paper curled a little on the edges so I used an iron and flattened them out.
I then applied ink using a sponge (you could also spray your ink on).

I adhered the tissue paper to cardstock and then completed my layout.

I love the texture that this technique added to my layout!

I hope you’ll get a little messy and try this technique to jazz up one of your paper crafting projects!

Today for TTT at Turtle Soup I’m sharing an inking technique from Splitcoatstampers - Magical Masking Tape.

When I saw this technique I was intrigued and knew I wanted to give it a try. I’m lovin the way these cards turned out and it was so easy!  On a side note I did not use glossy cardstock and it worked just fine.

Monday means another challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is: Anything French

I used my Cricut and the Summer In Paris cartridge to create this 3D Eiffel Tower.  After making this project I thought ... wouldn't this be a cute party theme.  I'll get right to work on it!

It’s Monday July 1st and I'll say I have been BUSY!! ... with projects for Kaboodle Doodles, My Sketch World and Turtle Soup!

First let me say I'm very excited about today being the kickoff for Turtle Soup! Be sure to drop by the pond for games and prizes and lots of chit chat.  Check out the sketch and play along with the Design Team. I’m always amazed at all the different takes there can be for one sketch!

Monday means the new challenge is up on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge Blog.
The challenge for this week is “Your National Day or Flag Colors”.

In the USA we will be celebrating Independence Day this Thursday.

The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a federal holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of the Independence on July 4th, 1776.

I thought it fitting to make a wreath for the 4th of July using the All American Collection from Bella BLVD.
