fun

Today's Friday and I have a Design Team project up on the Just Imagine Crafts/Kreaxions Punches Blog. Be sure to check out the rest of the amazing Design Team projects for this week.

I love this sweet photo of my grandson and his little friend. I wanted to create a doily for behind the photo. I needed a doily that was a little bigger than what the star stencil allowed me to make. I came up with an easy solution. I traced the star stencil and then used a copy machine to enlarge it. I then cut out the enlarged star and used the Kreaxions punch # 901 with the A insert to make the doily. I used the left over little butterflies from the punched doily as accent pieces.

My “Spring” project:

I purchased this piece of artwork because I loved the birds on the wires and the fact that it was metal. What I did not like was the fact that the background was so dark. (I should have taken a before and after picture … duh!) I knew those vintage music sheets I purchased would come in handy J I covered the dark background board with a thin layer of Gesso. I then tore the vintage music sheets into pieces and used Paper Mod Podge to adhere the pieces to the background board. I cut flourishes with my Cricut using the Home Accents and Straight from the Nest Cartridges. I love the way this turned out!

Second a Design Team project for the Just Imagine Crafts/ Kreaxions Blog -

The Kreaxions punches are not just for card making and scrapbooking layouts … I have been using them on my other paper crafting and altered projects … oh the possibilities!
I made these cute little milk carton houses to use as treat boxes for a co-worker. I used my Cricut and the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge for the milk cartons and then measured and re-measured and re-measured some more to make the holder. I must have been absent from school the day they taught you how to use a ruler lol! I made the decorative edges on the roof of the houses and the border on the holder by using the Kreaxions punches #301 and 916.

First Glimpse

Welcome to the Just Imagine Blog Hop!

The Design Team members are sharing “all things spring”.

Join us for fun, inspiration and prizes! The Blog Hop will run from (today) Sunday April 13th through Tuesday April 15th. Visit each one of the Design Team Members Blog’s and leave a comment on each blog to be entered into a random draw for some awesome prizes!

I created this layout “First Glimpse” for my son and daughter-in-law who are expecting their first child in July. I used punches #304 & 904 to create the border strips for this layout. I was experimenting with some new “messy” scrapbooking supplies and thought the border strips added the perfect finishing touch.

Altered Tin Cans

Today I have the Saturday All Sorts Challenge up at Turtle Soup.   I’m sharing some altered cans I made. These were so easy and fun to make. I saved some empty soup cans and made sure they were washed and dried. I had Randy crimp the top of the cans for me with a pair of pliers so there were no sharp edges. I then painted the cans with a thin layer of Gesso. When that was dry I spray painted the cans with white spray paint and let that dry. Now the fun part … I covered part of some of the cans with vintage music paper, added some twine, charms, lace and some Prima flowers. I decided to finish off the inside of the cans with the vintage music paper. My challenge to you for this month is to complete an altered project. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I'm displaying these oh so cute vintage tins on top of a cake stand I found at a second hand store for $7.00.  I rummaged around in the attic and found one of my grandmother's doily's to put on top of the cake stand.  These are perfect for storing some of my scrappy goodies.

Altered Bottles

It's Friday and that means another Design Team project up on the Just Imagine Crafts/Kreaxions Punches Blog.
The Kreaxions Punches # 301 and 907 made the perfect border for these altered Starbucks bottles.  I used the positive and negative pieces.  I think they’ll look great beside the matching tray that I made last week.
Be sure to check out the Just Imagine Crafts/Kreaxions Punches Blog to see what the other Design Team Members did this week.

Tuesday's Tools, Tips & Techniques

Today I posted a tip for Tuesday Tools, Tips & Techniques at Turtle Soup.

When I’m working on paper crafting projects (other than scrapbooking layouts) I tend to use my hot glue gun a lot. I’m just going to say mine was a hot mess! I found it nearly impossible to keep clean. The metal tip had all this gunk on it, the plastic part had all this dried glue on it and even the handle was sticky … you get the picture. And trying to clean it up was another story. So I went out and purchased a new one, problem solved lol! Little did I know how easy a hot glue gun was to clean up. Until I came across this tip by Lindsay Ballard. She has come up with a new high-tech way to clean your glue gun … who would have thought of using a piece of tin foil? Not I! Check out her blog for the details.

Altered Picture Frame

Today's Friday and I have a Design Team project up on the Just Imagine Crafts/Kreaxions Punches Blog.  Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team Members projects for this week.

While I was on Pinterest I came across a craft I thought looked interesting. Someone came up with the wonderful idea of making a tray out of a picture frame. Why don’t I ever think of things like this lol! I made this tray with supplies I already had on hand … a picture frame I was not using anymore, wooden draw pulls (for the feet of the tray), paint left over from the bathroom walls, patterned paper from my stash and the Kreaxions 4 in 1 punch # 907  with no insert. I used both the positive and negative strips from making a border. So easy and such a cute project!
